Week 1 recap

Whoa that is one beautiful stadium in Winnipeg what a electric atmosphere and exciting game.

What a first week of the season it got kicked off with an exciting game that was visually stunning I thought I was watching NFL game. The stadium shots looked absolutely stunning what a jewel of a stadium for the CFL the Bombers have now set the new standard for stadiums. Until 2017 when the Riders open their great stadium which I will post a pic below.

This is the new Rider stadium design that will be ready in 2017.

The great Bomber fan support was not enough to over come Calvillo and the Als passing attack.

Calvillo is still one cold blooded assassin in the clutch with IGF Field in a uproar and the pressure mounting Calvillo connects with SJ Green for a 43 yard touchdown which silenced the Bomber fans so much you could hear a needle drop say what you want about the Als defense which definitely looked suspect at times you have to respect the potency of the Als passing game I like that coach Dan Hawkins is implementing a very aggressive offense with many deep passes. If the Als can develop any kind of form on defense they will still be a force this year in the East Division.

Chris who????? The Ticats find another kick returning phenom in Lindsey Lamar(39).

Kicker Swayze Waters (Coolest name ever BTW) left the game with injured groin which forced players like receiver Spencer Watt to handle kicking duties.

Ricky Ray was phenomenal throwing for over 300 yards and 4 TDs.

A great game by Andy Fantuz (83) was overshadowed with dropping the game winning touchdown great pass defense by Jalil Carter (19).

Celebration on the Argos sideline after pulling out a thrilling nail biter.

Big shout out to John Granger (31) and Frank from Candid Frank Live and section 134B Argo Lifers Real fans bring the noise!!!!!

The best game of week 1 had the Toronto Argonauts beating their rival the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 39-34 in a high paced exciting  game which saw both offences exploding in the 2nd quarter and lead to a thrilling finish which had the Ticats come up just short as the clock expired. Great atmosphere as the lower bowl of Rogers Centre seemed pretty full with an announced crowd of 29,852 for me it was the first time I watched an Argo home game where the crowd was a factor and was really engaged in the game I really hope this is s sign that the people of Toronto will start to support their team.

Stampeders fans raised $100,000 for the relief efforts after the floods in southern Alberta.
The rise of Drew Tate is beginning he looked every part the franchise quarterback Coach John Hufnagel envisioned he would be.
Jon Cornish (9) ran all over the BC Lions for 172 yards and 2 TDs and donated over $2,000 to the flood relief efforts.

The BC Lions showed to McMahon Stadium hoping to exact revenge on the Calgary Stampeders after losing to them in last years West Division Final but were no match for the for the Stamps who dominated in every aspect of the game Drew Tate lit them up through the air Jon Cornish ran all over them and Charleston Hughes who had 3 sacks set the tone on defense as the the Stamps made a statement that their west division crown is no fluke and that they are the big dogs of the West.

Rider Nation invaded Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton and left happy as the Roughriders steamrolled the Eskimos.

Darian Durant (4)  had a efficient 3 TDs no interception game

Kory Sheet (1) had 131 yards rushing and a TD as he dominated the Esks defense.

Diamond Ferri (22) had one of the three interceptions the Rider defense had on new Eskimos QB Mike Reilly who had no chance behind a porous O-Line.

In what was a pretty boring game unless you were a Rider fan of course was completely dominated by one side the boys in Green and White as the Riders jumped to a 22-1 halftime score and never looked back save for a temper tantrum by DB Dwight Anderson the Riders had a perfect game. The Eskimos Offensive line allowed the Riders Defensive line to get to QB Mike Reilly so often I thought he was going to get injured, but credit to him for being tough and battling through it. The Riders are already looking ahead to next Friday nights big game at home against their bitter rivals Calgary.
