Week 2 Preview & Picks

Thursday July 4th 7 PM EST Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ Montreal Alouettes
Brandon Whitaker (2) is set to make his season debut after recovering from a knee injury.

I think Winnipeg will come out with some fight in this game but I think Calvillo will still be too much for them. I'm picking the Als in a tight game.

Thursday July 4th 10 PM EST Toronto Argonauts @ BC Lions
Can Ricky Ray (15) overcome a tough BC Lions defense.

The BC Lions may not be the juggernaut they were the last 2 years but they are still formidable and they will be desperate after getting dismantled by Calgary in week 1. Ricky Ray will try to maintain his elite level performance in week 1 against a tough veteran BC Lions defense. I'm picking the Argos in a tight one, this is where the Argos can make a statement that last year was no fluke that the champs mean business.

Friday July 5th 9 PM EST Calgary Stampeders @ Saskatchewan Roughriders
Head Coach of the Roughriders Corey Chamblin will have his players fired up for this big Friday Night Football special against their biggest west division rivals.

This is the game I am most looking forward to seeing last year the Stamps eliminated the Riders in the West Division Semis on a last second touchdown pass from Drew Tate. You know the Riders will be looking for pay back in a first place heavy weight showdown in the West in Riderville at Mosaic Stadium the capacity has been expanded to 40,000 because the Grey Cup which will be played in Regina in November can you imagine if Rider Nation sells out the stadium what an atmosphere it would be. I am picking the Riders to win by a touchdown I think all the additions made by the Riders this last off season will pay off in this game look for John Chick (97) and Ricky Foley (95) the two starting defensive ends to have a big impact in this one.

Sunday July 7th Edmonton Eskimos @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Ticats should dominate the slumping Eskimos in their home opener at Guelph this Sunday.

The Ticats were one play away from beating the Argos in week 1 their offense especially in the first half was firing on all cylinders they got a kick off return for a touchdown from the blazing fast Lindsey Lamar who I have nicknamed Chris Who? But their defense once again is still an issue expect to see some changes in the defensive lineup on Sunday for the Ticats I do expect a nice effort from their defense against the anemic offense of the Eskimos. Don't get me wrong I am not saying the Eskies are a total joke on offense they have a nice QB in Mike Reilly, a good RB in Hugh Charles, and a nice group of receivers led by Fred Stamps but when your offensive line cannot stop the pass rush the skill players cannot shine. I'm picking the Ticats in a blowout reminiscent of their 51-8 win last year against the Eskimos.
